Welcome to Teignbridge Archaeological Society

Upcoming Digs and Events

We are a local archaeological society based in the Teignbridge District of Devon, aiming to provide information, practical experience and activities for all those who are involved or interested in archaeology, whatever their experience. Whether you’re a seasoned archaeologist or simply curious about the past beneath your feet, we welcome you to join us on a journey of discovery. 

On this website you will find information on who’s who in the society, how to join as well as events, activities and publications that the society are either involved with, have completed or are organising.  

We are dedicated to making archaeology accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for all. Our activities include: 

  • Public Talks & Lectures – Hear from experts on local and national archaeology. 
  • Fieldwork & Excavations – Get hands-on with the past through community digs and surveys. 
  • Workshops & Training – Learn new skills in finds processing, metalwork, recording, and more in our experimental archaeology, metal detecting and other training workshops. 
  • Heritage Walks – Explore the landscapes and sites that shape our local history. 
  • Advocacy – Making sure that Devon, UK and international heritage is promoted to all, and conserved appropriately.  
  • Community Support – Supporting community heritage projects, helping other societies grow and supporting local charities, businesses and good causes to help our communities flourish. We will also be providing training opportunities as well as volunteering opportunities to give those who need it the chance to pursue heritage as a career to the fullest of their ability or volunteer on national and international digs.
